Which Color Will Bring You Good Luck?

The moment one opens his/her eyes, a world filled with myriad colors opens before them. The influence of these colors on different aspects of our life – emotional, intellectual, materialistic, physical and intuitive – is beyond measure.

This is because every color has definite properties and characteristics that influence our moods, behavior and even our daily life. The significance of colors has been recognized from ancient times and has been associated with corresponding planets, the seven key chakras (energy centers) in our body, and seven days of the week. It is no surprise that colors play a major role in the creation of a good Vaastu environment.

It is a well-known fact that colors are basically vibrations of light. When white light hits an object, certain wavelengths (vibrations) are emitted, and these form different colors. White light can be divided into seven prime colors of the spectrum – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. These colors can be combined to create secondary colors and shades.

In order to bring harmony in our life and vastu environment, it is important to understand which color would be favorable for you:

  • Red: Red is the color of blood with an obvious connection with our life and body. Red symbolizes lust, passion, materialism and other base energies, and is associated with fire. It brings activity, vigor and will power.

The front wall of structures facing the south should be painted red; those who do not like red can add a red color element to the front façade. Rosy red or pink shades can be used in the bedroom as they indicate deep love. Pink is the ultimate color for newlyweds, and should particularly be used by couples wishing to conceive. Pink can be used anywhere in the house and couples having conflicts can benefit from this color. However, dark reds shouldn’t be used in bedrooms.

Orange: This color represents pride, ambition and communication. It also signifies health and vitality. People willing to achieve a lot in their life should use orange color in the southern wall of their bedroom. Since it is a fiery color, it should not be used by people with an explosive temperament. Orange shades can be used in kitchens located in the south or southeast and can even used for puja rooms. People who feel low can also use orange in their surroundings.

Yellow: This color signifies illumination, light, intelligence and higher mental activity. It is also a color of Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. Yellow is good for studies, attentiveness and calming the mind, and is best suited for northern walls of buildings. Choose yellow for north side structures and rooms. This color is good for prosperity.

Green: This color symbolizes nature, fertility, abundance, prosperity and the growth of positive energy. It also signifies rebirth and re-creation of new ideas. Green is a color of healing, and is good for problems related to heart and high blood pressure. The color also has a cooling effect on people with irritable or stubborn nature. Pastel green shades in bedrooms have a soothing effect on couples.

Blue: This is the color of the sky, and also represents water. It signifies emotion, inspiration, devotion and truth. Blue is also a healing and merciful color, and alleviates body pains. Use blue in children’s bedrooms but avoid using it in kitchen, restaurant, office or shops. The best direction for using blue is the west. Do not use blue in the southeast, as this direction signifies fire, which is in complete contrast to water, represented by blue.

Indigo: This color offers a deep connection with the inner self, creates spiritual qualities, and enhances psychic abilities. This color can be used anywhere, especially in toilets and kitchens. However, it is ideal for meditation and study rooms. Indigo is a color of lord Krishna, so it’s good for puja rooms too.

Violet: This color represents religious devotion, understanding and temperance. It enhances spiritualism, improves memory and concentration and provides stability of mind. Violet is best used in puja and study rooms, and is ideal for students, scholars and people whose work requires a lot of mental activity. It also works great for those who are indecisive. However, violet color should not be used in toilets and kitchens.
